The European Union in collaboration with the Goethe Institute, EU Member State Embassies in Colombo and the National Film Corporation will launch a European Film Festival to commence 28 November through to 6 December 2008 to showcase the rich and diverse culture of Europe as well as the vibrant film industry, through a selection of its finest films.
The main initiative would be to establish the EU Film Festival in Colombo as a nucleus that could eventually develop into an event in its own right, an International Film Festival. With each year it is anticipated to increase the presence of Sri Lankan and Asian Cinema and thereby attract entries from all over the world, whilst keeping the European segment as the main part of the festival.
The Film Festival will showcase an assortment of films from several European Union member & non- member countries. The Opening Ceremony will take place at the Regal Theatre on 28 November followed by 8 days of films screened at the BMICH, whilst the Closing Ceremony will be held at the National Film Corporation theatre.
Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy 9 days of European Culture through film. For more information regarding films contact Goethe-Institute, Colombo
